telephone gallery 5th

  • Saint Mary's Street Edinburgh, Scotland, EH1 1SX United Kingdom (map)

for the 5th show at the telephone gallery i took the opportunity the snow brought me and shovelled (or rather bucketed) however many kilograms of snow into the booth

halfway through this guy asked 'why?', i told him: i don't know i just thought of it. but just seconds later i realised, i didn't know why! that's how i approach art (and life half the time), i do something and then think of the why. sometimes it results in a really bad outcome, make a huge mistake or break some bones but often times it turns out that i was right and the effort that i put into it were worth more than the pain it caused

in this case it was the snow. it took me 4 hours to build this whole mammoth of snow. and i was about to quit many times throughout the process, building something like this does not come easily, especially when your snow is so fresh you have to press it down into the bucket every single time. reflecting on what i had said to that guy my mind suggested the word 'resilience'. i wasn't making this only because it looked beautiful, i had no intention of making it especially visually appealing. it was the effort and the struggle it took to make it that was the most rewarding

so there you have it. it'll be on until it melts away, hopefully long enough so you can see but not so long the storm is still raging
